What's it all about?

HighTech Women is a fast growing organisation built on the premise of "doing good and doing well". Embodied in everything we do, it is felt in the way our 1400 members, from CEOs to students, from all areas of technology, meet, mentor, and do business with one another. Every day brings proof from our members that it is good and smart business to have a diverse workforce, with a good balance of men, women, and ethnic minorities throughout the organisation, starting at the board level.

A new initiative, the HighTech Women Skills Bank for Society, was launched in March, helping to move the discourse of "doing good and doing well" even further into reality. An opportunity for individuals and companies to contribute their time and skills to non-for-profit organisations of all kinds, and we are looking forward to partnering with members of the technology industry and technology related industries to ensure its success.

It is a concrete means for organisations and individuals to give back to their community and it has received a warm response from our members who feel it provides an opportunity for "doing good and doing well" in the truest sense.

It is more important than ever for businesses and individuals to look to their obligation to think carefully about the impact of the choices they make on their entire ecosystem, from their employees, to their customers, and by extension, their communities. We hope that the HighTech Women's Skills Bank for Society will provide a means for organisations, - from the smallest start-up to the largest public company - and individuals to take another step in the direction of putting the theory of "doing good and doing well" into practice.

What next?

The "beta phase" of the HighTech Women Skills Bank was launched with our March 7th meeting.

We will launch the HighTech Women's Skills Bank for Society Partnership Programme shortly. If you are interested in being a non-profit partner, corporate partner, or media partner, send us an email and let us know. The more the merrier!

Non-Profit Organisations:

All non-profit organisations are eligible to be non-profit partners, including be they involved with the arts, health, science, technology, educational, etc. Mentoring will be an integral part of the HighTech Women Skills Bank for Society, including:

  • School/University Outreach - Talking at schools/universities at all levels about your work and opportunities in the sector.
  • Shadowing Programme - Let someone shadow you for a day or half a day and share what it's really like.
  • Internships - What company doesn't need some extra hands? This is a great opportunity to help students get a taste of the sector and to encourage young women to enter into technology and technology-related professions.
